During that era, the amazing Terracotta Art was introduced and most of the astonishing terracotta temples were built. Bishnupur has become extremely famous for all these and has retained its thriving popularity over the time, across the country. Apart from the fabulous Terracotta crafts, Bishnupur is also famous for its exquisite Baluchari silk sarees, Swarnachari silk sarees and various types of beautiful art & handicraft items, like ? Dokra metal craft, Patachitra (scroll painting), ?Dash Avatar? Taash (Playing Cards), Conch shell carvings, Bell metal and brass metal crafts. It is also the place of origin of ?Bishnupuri gharana? (genre) of Hindustani (Indian) classical music.
