After breakfast, you will depart Coffs Harbour for Byron Bay (3hrs), travelling via ?The Scottish Town? of Maclean for a quick stop. You can also join the coastal road here to Yamba, a lovely surfing spot and an ideal place for lunch. You will then carry on through the beautiful resort town of Lennox Head, which has a stunning, seven-mile beach, to Byron Bay.
Over the next two days, you can explore Byron Bay and its surrounds at your leisure. Sample some of the local range of activities, from tandem hang-gliding and parachute jumps to kayaking, surfing (or learning to surf), biking or horse-riding. The marine park at Julian Rocks, just off the main beach, is the meeting place of tropical and temperate currents, providing scuba divers and snorkellers with some amazing underwater encounters. There is a great walking trail to the top of the Cape, with stunning coastal views, and the lighthouse is the spot from which to watch for whales. The nearby Brunswick Heads, often seen as a smaller, quieter Byron Bay, is an excellent place for fish and chips and a walk along the river or beach.
