Sunday Aug 23rd Captain’s Prize Round 1

Mr Michael Curry hosted the first round of his Captain’s Prize over the weekend. With the course in great condition, a big field turned out to try and land the big one, the highlight of the golfing year.

Scoring was excellent over, what is one of the most testing courses in the country. Donal Murphy playing off 11 continued his great form of this year. The

current leader in the golfer of the year event shot a

nett 65, and so takes a 3 shot lead into the final round. Six more players stand on 68, Mark Shortall, David Buggy, Michael Buggy, Martin Rowe, Fergal O’ Neill and Ronan Ryan. Will the winner come from the leading 7 ?. Can some player spring from the pack?. All will be revealed in the final round which takes place on Sunday next 30th August.

In the student section Jack Buggy leads the way after shooting a magnificent 61. Jack holds a 6 shot lead over Tom Davies with Conor McMahon a further 3 shots back.

The top 36 players and ties i.e. players who shot a 73 nett or better will play in order of first round scores with the last three ball teeing off at 2. 50. p.m. All other players may now book their tee time on line.
