The optional weekends follow on from an all in. On these weekends Saturday is very similar but anyone can go home after Sport until Sunday evening. However parents are welcome to come and watch matches even if their child is not coming out for the weekend. The Housemaster organises trips out on the Sunday which are advertised by letter to parents at the start of term. Often there is more than one trip to cater for the different ages and tastes of the pupils. On average about 50 pupils are in for these weekends. There are seven optionals through the year and trips range from outward bound activities to sporting events and museums. Recent trips have included football, cricket, rugby and basketball matches, quads, high ropes and go-karts, The Clothes Show, music concerts, Cadbury World, steam trains and classic cars, camping and kayaking as well as the cinema, ten pin bowling and play centres. We have lots of fun ! An ice-cream is now an obligatory part of watching a film on an optional Saturday, regardless of the weather.
