Description: A 2.5 kilometers long beach lined with coconut palms. It is one of the more scenic beaches along the west coast. The most famous surf wave in Nias Utara is located near the south end of this beach, known simply as ?Afulu?. Surfers visiting Nias Utara are coming for this wave. Some Afulu bound tourists come overland, but the vast majority arrive on live-aboard surf yachts. It is the only beach in Nias Utara (in 2014) that has accommodation for foreign tourists, consisting of two very basic beach bungalows at the south end. The south end is relatively protected and is the best place for swimming. From here surfers swim a few hundred meters around the corner to the wave, or walk through the bush. The wave is a great lefthander but mainly for experienced surfers as it ends dangerously close to the reef.
