Pertisau. You’ve got the whole day to enjoy Pertisau. We suggest a trip on the Pertisau or Maurach cable cars. Both offer fantastic views across the forests, mountains and lake, and there are some excellent walks once you’re up there. You’ll find a number of traditional mountain huts, where you can stop for lunch or a cold drink on the way. From Maurach, you can head for the Eagle’s Nest on Gschöllopf, which offers magnificent 360-degree views - don’t forget your camera. If you choose Maurach, we recommend walking there and catching the boat back up the lake to Pertisau.Another option is to visit the ‘capital of the Alps’ - Innsbruck. This historical town has plenty to keep sightseers busy. Visit the Goldenes Dachl Museum, with its famous roof covered in more than 2,500 guilded copper tiles, tour the opulent Imperial Palace, or ascend the Stadtturm - a Medieval tower with views right across the town. The 18th century cathedral is also worth a look. Even just strolling through the streets of the old town, you’ll pass beautiful Baroque and Regency buildings. The journey from Pertisau is an attraction in itself. For part of the way, you’ll travel on one of the oldest steam trains in Austria - the Achensee Steam Cog Railway.
