The Jackson Rose Bed and Breakfast

1. Tour Harpers Ferry National Park - every inch and every museum - there's lots to see on the grounds as well as in the restored building museums.

2. Visit the Loudoun County wineries - there are new vineyards popping up every year, and in good weather, the most wonderful thing is to sit outside at one of these - Breaux Vineyards or Hillsborough Vineyards in particular - enjoying the landscape of the rolling Virginia hills and sipping wine.

3. Antietam Battlefield - only 18 miles drive - a must for any visitor who has more than a day's time.

4. Maryland or Loudoun Heights hike - the natural beauty of this area is its strongest feature, and the best way to see and experience it is hiking through the woods.

5. Bicycling on the C&O Canal towpath is lovely in good weather - one of the best things to do.

6. Visit other small historic neighboring towns, including Charles Town and Shepherdstown, WV; Frederick, MD; and Winchester and Leesburg, VA. Gettysburg is only one hour's drive; Manassas is the same. Harpers Ferry can serve as a home base for several battlefields.
