We take the local bus to the rural pre-Hispanic mountain town of El Tuito one hour south of Vallarta nestled in beautiful agricultural and ranch country. Learn local history, sample tortillas and locally-made soft panela cheese, see the ?Universal Revolution? mural, and visit the 200 year old church. Notice the typical adobe architecture colorfully painted with a wash of the local clay as we walk to the summer home of artist Manuel Lepe, now a co-op art gallery where a variety of works including reproductions of pre-Hispanic sculptures are for sale along with a taste of local raicilla (for taste or purchase). Visit a backyard bakery using a wood-fired oven and then an optional stop for lunch. Meet at Southside bus station corner of Aguacate and V. Caranza at 9:45 am. Roundtrip bus fare included in fee. Typical Mexican lunch not included but highly recommended.
