Lake Plansee comprises an area of 280 hectares and is, beside Lake Achensee, the largest lake in Tyrol. Located close to the municipalities of Breitenwang and Heiterwang, the lake is connected with Lake Heiterwang via a 300 m long canal. It is fed by the Spiessbach and the Torsäulenbach river as well as by Lake Heiterwang and its runoff is the Archbach river. Lake Plansee is characterised by outstanding water quality and the water is used for generating electricity.Lake Plansee is really popular with joggers, nordic walkers, hikers, cyclists and numerous other sportspeople, who love bustling along the beautiful lakeside. Nestled in the heart of the Lechtal Alps, the Wetterstein Mountains and the Mieming Range, this lake is also a great starting point for mountain tours. You can also enjoy playing table tennis and miniature golf.Also the underwater world of Lake Plansee is varied and has got a lot to offer for divers. A water quality of Level I makes a reach of vision of 15 metres possible and enables divers to perfectly explore the world under the water surface. However, not only underwater there is much to see, but there are also numerous activities that can be exerted above the water surface. Surfers and sailors for example consider Lake Plansee an insider’s tip. Another highlight are the passenger ships which take you from one lakeside to the other.
