It was build in the sixteenth century and 17th century to bring water to the convent of Christ in Tomar under command of king Philip I and in places it reaches a height of 30 meters. There are signs that tell you how to get to it’s highest point where you can climb a small tower and see a lot of the aqueduct, here it’s at it’s highest and most impressive but there is little other documentation to be found at the tourist office or anywhere else in Tomar.
