First of all, the interest of the Bulgarians to our history is now growing. The causes are rooted in the interest in knowledge, and in our unhappy present and in looking for source of self-esteem in the past. Also, archaeologists, historians and other scholars continuously offer us new historical facts and publications. They, not in smaller extent, are in controversy to the known and the studied until now. It is clear that due to “political expediency and environment” there are quite alot historical moments and events, which have been concealed until now or interpreted in a wrong manner. The examples thousands. Here is one. Many Bulgarians now ask, “Why was the title of our rulers KHAN before and is now KAN, and how important it is, doesn’t it cause confusion?“
