Kidnapped in BCN

I'm going to be an Aupair in the start of 2012 (Jan-june) in Barcelona. I know the family & I have one relative living there. However, there have been many reports about the EU and how Spain is going totally bankrupt & its continually getting worse every day. Prostitution is especially a huge thing right now, & foreigners are a big target. Should I just forget about the Aupair there? :/ I need helpful advice as much as you can. I'm 18 & female by the way...And I have seen the movie 'Taken'.
