One of the most scenic backwaters in the country, Kayamkulam Lake which spreads over an area of 60 sq kms, is the favourite spot of nature lovers. The Lake is linked to Astamudi Lake by Chavara-Panmana canal. Used for inland water transport of passengers as well as Cargo, house boat facilities are available for the tourists. Through the web of Chinese fishing nets, the kayal offers a spectacular view of the sunset due to its wide opening to the Arabian Sea. From here, there is an easy access to Kayamkulam Thermal Plant and Sri Vittala Temple.
