H.P. Donigan built Donigan's Brookshire Gin in 1936. It was located and still stands one block south of Highway 90 by the present Market Basket store. It was operated by T.A. Trettin. Mr. Donigan bought an old gin from Mr. Trettjn in 1936 and used the machinery and material from this gin in the Donigan's Brookshire Gin. The Trettin & Trettin Gin Co. had to be torn down as the new Highway 90 right-of-way went right through the property. Donigan's gin closed in 1948. The above passage is quoted from the book "Cotton Gins of Waller County" based on information from H.P. Donigan.
