Berhampur, the oldest city in the Ganjam district of Odisha, is a popular trade centre of the state. Name of the city is anglicized from ?Brahmapur?, meaning 'abode of Brahma'. Berhampur lies close to the border of Andhra Pradesh, Bay of Bengal Coast, Port of Gopalpur and Visakhapatnam. The Ramlinga Tank is the prime attraction among all Berhampur tourist places. It is a pond situated on the west of the old bus stand which is at the centre of the city. Berhampur also houses several national level stadiums which have produced many sportsmen of national and international repute. Primary among these sports arenas are the Berhampur Stadium, the Khallikote College Stadium and the Veer Hanuman Circus and Physical Institute (VHCPI) which is an Indoor Stadium.
