Back at the CENTRO DANNEMANN, I was then entrusted with tasks like generating visitor statistics, helping with the "Adopt a tree" reforestation project, supporting general marketing activities and looking after groups of foreign visitors to the CENTRO. I always particularly enjoyed taking tourists on tours to the tobacco plantations and the reforestation area. It's incredibly interesting to experience the path "from seed to smoke" live on the tobacco plantations and to communicate this impressive, labour-intensive process of cigar manufacturing to fascinated visitors from all over the world. It's important in that line of work to be good at approaching people, enjoy dialogue (in foreign languages) and be open to life in another country and another culture. Finding your feet in the Brazilian way of life is a special challenge initially, both at work and at home. Future interns have to approach that part of it with a lot of patience, curiosity and understanding of different processes and ways of doing things.
Brazilian colleagues are amazingly supportive in helping you get acclimatised. Interns working with them get a very authentic impression of real Brazilian life, the country and the people. I'm sure that future interns, too, will quickly be thrilled by the cordiality and warmth of Bahian people and will love "a vida brasileira".
