C arlos Tours runs a 1 day snorkelling tour of the Belize Barrier Reef run by Carlos Ayala, who has been running the tour and living in Caye Caulker for 14 years. The reef is the second longest in the world and is home to a wide variety of marine life including corals of all shapes, colours and sizes, sea turtles, sharks, rays, tropical fish, eels, lobster, crabs and, at the right time of year, manatees.

Carlos is a free diver meaning he can dive for extended periods without the use of oxygen tanks. Since 2002 he has combined this ability with his increasing interest in underwater photography and takes fantastic close up photos of everything you see on the tour with his underwater digital camera. Tours... Full day From 10:30am to 4:30pm. Three beautiful very famous sites which are Hol Chan, Shark/Ray Alley, and the Coral Gardens. We also do a stop at San Pedro for lunch after Hol Chan. Lunch is on your own at your own cost. The cost of this trip is $130 bz or $65 U.S. All snorkeling is guided by a licensed guide, where by we take you around in the water showing you different marine life. The cost will cover your entry fee to the reserve ($10 U.S.), sales tax (12.5%), any snorkel gear you might need, drinking water, and some fresh fruits at the end. Half Day From 1:00pm to 4:30pm. Three sites on the reef near Caye Caulker which are Caye Caulker Channel, Sting ray village, and a Coral Garden. The cost of this trip is $70 bz or $35 U.S. Per person. All snorkeling is guided by a licensed guide, where by we take you around in the water showing you different marine life. The cost will cover your entry fee to the reserve ($5 U.S.), sales tax (12.5%), any snorkel gear you might need, drinking water, and some fresh fruits at the end. No longer rent cameras, but still take underwater pictures and we sell them for BZ$30 on a cd. New boats as well. More room more shade. Manatee tour is now BZ$200 pp where we go spotting manatees at Swallow Caye, then go over to a little island called Goff Caye which sits on the reef and spend the rest of the day there. Depart @9:30 return @4:30. How to get there...Caye Caulker is a small place and the Carlos Tours office is easy to find. Carlos is not always around as he is often out doing tours, so he has a rather unique booking system. Just note down your name on the piece of paper pinned to the front door! ...
