Stage 1: Developing basic safety awareness, the class scenario, basic movement skills and swimmers may use aids such as arm bands, floats etc.
Stage 2: Developing safe entry to water, including jumping, basic floating, travel on from 5 meters and rotating body.
Stage 3: Travel up to 10m on from and back, and progressing water safety knowledge.
Stage 4: Learning and developing the understanding of buoyancy through a range of skills. Refining kicking techniques for all strokes. The swimmer also has to swim 10m to a standard directed by the ASA.
Stage 5: Develop watermanship through sculling and treading water skills. All stroke for a distance of 10m to a standard directed by the ASA.
