Budapest Spring Festival

« All EventsDate: 31. March – 23. April 2017.The Budapest Spring Festival takes place in April each year. Besides Hungarian artists, numerous international stars perform during the 3 and half – week event.One of the the biggest name of the 2017 festival is John Malkovich performing in the Just Call Me God: A dictator’s final speech theatre and music production.Other performers in 2017 include: Georg Baselitz, Gyenyisz Macujev, Daniele Gatti and the Komische Oper Berlin  About the 2017 ProgramThe main theme of the festival will be the Austro Hungarian Compromise (Kiegyezés) made 150 years ago in 1867. It partially re-established the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Hungary.Works of Franz Liszt are always an important part of the festival’s program and his Coronation Mass composed for the 1867 Compromise will be performed by the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Philharmonie and the Choir of the Vienna State Opera on 08. April in the Béla Bartók Concert Hall of the Müpa/Palace of Arts.
